TRYLAX stands for Tantasqua Regional Youth Lacrosse. TRYLAX is
an instructional lacrosse league based in Brimfield, Massachusetts. TRYLAX membership is composed
of students and parents from the five regional area towns of Brimfield, Brookfield, Holland, Sturbridge and Wales.
We currently are in the "West Central Region" of the MBYLL (Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League). Our games are generally on Sundays, begin in April and end in June (Aprill 11th - June 6th).
We usually attend at least one Jamboree in June (which is loads of fun) and try to attend as many tournaments as possible
throughout the season. Practices are generally once or twice per week plus clinics throughout the year.
As we are an instructional league, we do not have A and B teams. We follow the MBYLL way and divide our teams as evenly
as possible based on age, skill and experience. Our goal is to grow and promote the game of lacrosse by teaching the
fundamental skills, teamwork and sportsmanship necessary to play the game of lacrosse, in a safe and fun-filled environment.
The TRYLAX
program currently has teams ranging from U11 to U15 (grades 3-8). The U11 teams are grades (3-4), the
U13 teams are grades (5-6), the U15 teams are grades (7-8) and the senior girls team (new this year) is grades (7-8).
Welcome girls!
ALL players must be a current member of
US Lacrosse to participate in the program. NO Exceptions!! This is how we obtain our insurance.
History...
TRYLAX was
founded in 2005 by Patti Bamberger. Patti's children both had a passion for lacrosse and were forced to play in
Worcester or Holden as there was nothing for them in the area. With the help of Chris Widelo (XCEL Lacrosse) and a little passion and determination from Patti, TRYLAX was born! This eventually lead to a club team at Tantasqua Regional
High School and then transitioned into the Varsity and JV lacrosse programs at the High School today.
TRYLAXstarted
with one U15 team, which Patti and her husband Rich coached. There was also one U13 team coached
by Keith Turley (who is still coaching today).
Today TRYLAX has over 110 players, five boys teams, one girls team (the
first year for us), a staff of dedicated coaches (thanks guys!) and a great group of parents supporting us!
Parents...
Lacrosse is a contact
sport. At the U11 level there are no body checks of any kind allowed. At the U13 and U15 levels there is some
contact, but no "take-out checks" (meaning an intent to knock the player to the ground) are allowed. Research
has found both men’s and women’s lacrosse to be relatively safe compared to other commonly played team sports.
Most injuries are minor strains, sprains and contusions. For more lacrosse safety information check out the US Lacrosse site. If you're new to lacrosse and would like some more information about lacrosse, US Lacrosse has a nice Parent's Guide that is worth looking at.
TRYLAX
is nothing without your support. We have one of the lowest registration fees in the area. Our registration
fee is about half of what other programs charge. We are trying to keep our fees the same but with the new rules
this year and rising costs, this is very difficult. That's where you come in. We need volunteers to keep
this program going. Whether its people to man the snack shack on game days, food donations, coaches or fundraising...WE
NEED YOU! Please, if you can, get involved and help out where ever you can.

There was a mistake made on the schedule that has been corrected!
If you downloaded
the schedule prior to today 3/24/09 you have a bad schedule.
Specifically there was a problem
with the first game on 4/5/09 for both the U13 teams.
Please make sure you take a look at the schedule and
verify you have the correct one.
If anyone has some time, please take a look at the schedule and compare
it with the official schedule on the "SportsManager" page. If anyone does find an error on the TRYLAX
site please bring it to my attention.
I hope by now you all have been contacted by Kacey Looney, U11, Keith Turley, U13 and Dave Couture, U15 for
practice times and where. If you have not, please let me know immediately. This week will begin practice for everyone.
We have not decided on teams yet. The coaches felt they needed to see everyone at least once or twice to make equal teams.
I hope uniforms come in this week. They were promised. When they do I will
be at practices to hand them out.
Any questions regarding practice you can go
to www.trylax.com and click on teams and click on the team for Kacey, Keith or Dave to ask questions or contact me.
I have just finished putting up the schedule. Its a little easier to read than the "official"
one. If anyone finds any errors, please bring them to my attention ASAP. The Google calendar has not been updated
yet but I am working on it. Its a lot of work converting the schedule and getting it up on the web.
There were many changes done in the past week, so make sure you look around. You never know what you might find.
I should have the practice schedules posted soon. Your coach should have contacted you by now with the schedule
in any event.
This message/reminder is for all of you who have NOT renewed your membership
or have NOT gotten a membership to US Lacrosse.
It is very important that you all take care of this ASAP. Players who are not members in good standing with US Lacrosse will not be able to participate in our first clinic-to be
announced.
I will be checking all 90 plus players-takes a long time-for up to date memberships.
This is important because of insurance. The high school lets us use the field house and in return we provide
an insurance binder. The insurance binder is issued with the understanding that every player participating is a US Lacrosse
member in good standing. If one player is not and another player gets hurt, we have no coverage. This puts our
entire program at risk.
If you are a member in good standing, no need to let me know.
