Welcome...

The 2012 season has begun. . .

TRY
LAX
stands for Tantasqua Regional Youth Lacrosse.
TRYLAX  is an instructional lacrosse league based in Brimfield, Massachusetts.

TRYLAX
membership is composed of students and parents from the five regional area towns of Brimfield, Brookfield, Holland, Sturbridge and Wales.  We currently are in the "West Central Region" of the MBYLL (Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League).  Our games are generally on Sundays, begin in April and end in June (Aprill 11th - June 6th).  We usually attend at least one Jamboree in June (which is loads of fun) and try to attend as many tournaments as possible throughout the season.  Practices are generally once or twice per week plus clinics throughout the year.

As we are an instructional league, we do not have A and B teams.  We follow the MBYLL way and divide our teams as evenly as possible based on age, skill and experience.  Our goal is to grow and promote the game of lacrosse by teaching the fundamental skills, teamwork and sportsmanship necessary to play the game of lacrosse, in a safe and fun-filled environment.

The TRYLAX program currently has teams ranging from U11 to U15 (grades 3-8).  The U11 teams are grades (3-4), the U13 teams are grades (5-6), the U15 teams are grades (7-8) and the junior/senior girls teams (our third year) grades (4-5) and grades (7-8).  Welcome girls!  Younger girls may also participate on the boys U11 teams.

ALL players must be a current member of US Lacrosse to participate in the program.  NO Exceptions!!  This is how we obtain our insurance.

History...

TRYLAX was founded in 2005 by Patti Bamberger.  Patti's children both had a passion for lacrosse and were forced to play in Worcester or Holden as there was nothing for them in the area.  With the help of Chris Widelo (
XCEL Lacrosse) and a little passion and determination from Patti, TRYLAX was born!  This eventually lead to a club team at Tantasqua Regional High School and then transitioned into the Varsity and JV lacrosse programs at the High School today.

TRYLAX started with one U15 team, which Patti and her husband Rich coached.  There was also one U13 team coached by Keith Turley.

Today TRYLAX has over 160 players, Eight boys teams, two girls team (our third year), a staff of dedicated coaches (thanks guys!) and a great group of parents supporting us!

Parents...

Lacrosse is a contact sport.  At the U11 level there are no body checks of any kind allowed.  At the U13 and U15 levels there is some contact, but no "take-out checks" (meaning an intent to knock the player to the ground) are allowed.  Research has found both men’s and women’s lacrosse to be relatively safe compared to other commonly played team sports. Most injuries are minor strains, sprains and contusions. For more lacrosse safety information check out the US Lacrosse site.  If you're new to lacrosse and would like some more information about lacrosse, US Lacrosse has a nice Parent's Guide that is worth looking at.

TRYLAX is nothing without your support.  We have one of the lowest registration fees in the area.  Our registration fee is about half of what other programs charge.  We are trying to keep our fees the same but with the new rules this year and rising costs, this is very difficult.  That's where you come in.  We need volunteers to keep this program going.  Whether its people to man the snack shack on game days, food donations, coaches or fundraising...WE NEED YOU!  Please, if you can, get involved and help out where ever you can.

Stay Tuned! This website is constantly changing and evolving, if you have any suggestions, comments or questions feel free to contact Patti@trylax.com

A couple quick tidbits

I just added a link to Gillette Stadium Lacrosse http://www.gillettestadiumlacrosse.com.  They have a lot of great things coming up.  They have yearly events which include Lacrosse Clinics, The NCAA finals and the New England Lacrosse Classic.  Make sure you check out their page, there are a lot of great things happening there.  Patti will be sending out an email soon with some of the information and events coming up.  You can also just go to the site and check it all out for yourself.

The dates for the March clinics are in.  The clinics will be on March 11th and the 18th.  The times are not set in stone yet and we will keep you posted.  There will be a special guest on the 11th (You're not gonna wanna miss this clinic!).

Stay tuned, everything is almost finalized and the mystery guest will be revealed soon.

Some sad news to report, Imagination Sports has closed its doors.  They were great people and provided a wealth of lacrosse knowledge.  They will be missed.   As an alternative you can try out:

Quick Update

Just wanted to make sure everyone understands that the schedule for the 2011 season is not live yet.  If you click on any of the links on the site right now you will NOT be getting to the official 2011 schedule.  We will post on the website when we have the schedule finalized.  The schedule usually isn't finalized until close to the beginning of the season as there are constant changes.

We are still assigning coaches.  I believe we still need 2 coaches for the upcoming season.  If you are interested in helping out please contact Patti at Patti@Trylax.com.

We are still in the process of trying to get someone from Trilogy Lacrosse to host one or both of our March clinics.  We will post that information once we have firm dates.  You wont want to miss those clinics, they are great!!!!
