Welcome...

The 2012 season has begun. . .

TRY
LAX
stands for Tantasqua Regional Youth Lacrosse.
TRYLAX  is an instructional lacrosse league based in Brimfield, Massachusetts.

TRYLAX
membership is composed of students and parents from the five regional area towns of Brimfield, Brookfield, Holland, Sturbridge and Wales.  We currently are in the "West Central Region" of the MBYLL (Massachusetts Bay Youth Lacrosse League).  Our games are generally on Sundays, begin in April and end in June (Aprill 11th - June 6th).  We usually attend at least one Jamboree in June (which is loads of fun) and try to attend as many tournaments as possible throughout the season.  Practices are generally once or twice per week plus clinics throughout the year.

As we are an instructional league, we do not have A and B teams.  We follow the MBYLL way and divide our teams as evenly as possible based on age, skill and experience.  Our goal is to grow and promote the game of lacrosse by teaching the fundamental skills, teamwork and sportsmanship necessary to play the game of lacrosse, in a safe and fun-filled environment.

The TRYLAX program currently has teams ranging from U11 to U15 (grades 3-8).  The U11 teams are grades (3-4), the U13 teams are grades (5-6), the U15 teams are grades (7-8) and the junior/senior girls teams (our third year) grades (4-5) and grades (7-8).  Welcome girls!  Younger girls may also participate on the boys U11 teams.

ALL players must be a current member of US Lacrosse to participate in the program.  NO Exceptions!!  This is how we obtain our insurance.

History...

TRYLAX was founded in 2005 by Patti Bamberger.  Patti's children both had a passion for lacrosse and were forced to play in Worcester or Holden as there was nothing for them in the area.  With the help of Chris Widelo (
XCEL Lacrosse) and a little passion and determination from Patti, TRYLAX was born!  This eventually lead to a club team at Tantasqua Regional High School and then transitioned into the Varsity and JV lacrosse programs at the High School today.

TRYLAX started with one U15 team, which Patti and her husband Rich coached.  There was also one U13 team coached by Keith Turley.

Today TRYLAX has over 160 players, Eight boys teams, two girls team (our third year), a staff of dedicated coaches (thanks guys!) and a great group of parents supporting us!

Parents...

Lacrosse is a contact sport.  At the U11 level there are no body checks of any kind allowed.  At the U13 and U15 levels there is some contact, but no "take-out checks" (meaning an intent to knock the player to the ground) are allowed.  Research has found both men’s and women’s lacrosse to be relatively safe compared to other commonly played team sports. Most injuries are minor strains, sprains and contusions. For more lacrosse safety information check out the US Lacrosse site.  If you're new to lacrosse and would like some more information about lacrosse, US Lacrosse has a nice Parent's Guide that is worth looking at.

TRYLAX is nothing without your support.  We have one of the lowest registration fees in the area.  Our registration fee is about half of what other programs charge.  We are trying to keep our fees the same but with the new rules this year and rising costs, this is very difficult.  That's where you come in.  We need volunteers to keep this program going.  Whether its people to man the snack shack on game days, food donations, coaches or fundraising...WE NEED YOU!  Please, if you can, get involved and help out where ever you can.

Stay Tuned! This website is constantly changing and evolving, if you have any suggestions, comments or questions feel free to contact Patti@trylax.com

Jamboree Schedule Update ! ! !

It was just brought to my attention that the Jamboree schedule has been UPDATED today 6/16/11.

I have updated the google calendar with the latest changes as of 6/16/11 (hopefully I didn't make any mistakes as I had to do this rather quickly).  If anyone would like to check the updates to the google calendar for accuracy it would be greatly appreciated.  You can send me an email if you see anything and I will do my best to change it webmaster@trylax.com.  If the schedule is updated again by MBYLL I will unlikely be able to fix it (in the google calendar) in the next day or so.  I have a lot going on.

So, Prior to heading out for the jamboree I would strongly suggest you check the official MBYLL schedule for any changes.  They did put up a nice notice that there were changes made, so in the event it happens again, they will probably put up another dated notice.

So, as of this posting I believe the google calendar is correct.   BUT, make sure you check the schedule before you head out just in case.  Hopefully they wont do that at such a late date...

Take care, and have a great time at the Jamboree.  The weather looks a bit iffy as of right now but hopefully it will hold off for us :-)

Jamboree Information

As you should all be aware by now, the Jamboree is this weekend on Saturday, June 18th.  If you haven't been before here is a little information to make the day a bit easier on you.

Here is the link on the MBYLL page for Jamboree information http://www.mbyll.org/Page.asp?n=39311&snid=kBLA\%3EL7]&org=MBYLL.ORG

Here is the link to the MBYLL schedule (its a PDF file) for Saturday, June 18th http://files.leagueathletics.com/Images/Club/6319/Jambo11/Jambo_Sat18f.pdf

I have taken the MBYLL schedule and translated it for you.  All the games for the day have been placed in our NORMAL schedule, the google calendar.  You can find that here  http://trylax.com/id39.html

To read the MBYLL schedule, all the GOLD TRYLAX teams are team 1, the GREEN teams are team 2 and the WHITE teams are team 3 for MBYLL purposess.

When Reading the google calendar follow this example:

U11 Green - ( U11 Green 23 vs Northborough/Southborough 17 ) Field 3

This is for U11 Green.  Notice the "23" after the U11 Green inside the brackets.  This is the MBYLL team number for our U11 Green Team.  The MBYLL schedule lists our U11 Green team as Team 23.  We are playing "Northborough/Southborough" and they are MBYLL team 17.  We are playing on Field 3 at Devens.  All the info is right there for you on the schedule.

I also made a google map of Devens that shows all the parking lots and field locations.  If you have a fancy phone you can just call it up and use it to get directions.  If not, you can still use the locations to get exact directions in Google maps to make the trip easier.  There are also directions in the Google calendar entry in the description area.

Here is the MAP of Devens: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=204351708337116061489.0004a4a5e1aa6dbb9e846

Just click on the parking lot or field you want to get to and you can get an exact location.  From there you can get directions or just look at the field/parking lot you want to get too.

I hope everyone has a great day.  Let's hope the weather holds out for us this year.

Enjoy the Jamboree, its a great way to end the season on a fun note.
